[edit]Ah, why did you (seemingly) make a copy of the Vladimir Nabokov article at Vladimir Nobokov? I'm puzzled.... Noel (talk) 22:43, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
PS: I don't usually check other User_talk: pages (so that I don't have to monitor a whole long list of User_Talk: pages - one for each person with whom I am having a "conversation"), so please leave any messages for me on my talk page (above); if you leave a message for me here I probably will not see it. I know not everyone uses this style (they would rather keep all the text of a thread in one place), but I simply can't monitor all the User_talk: pages I leave messages on. Thanks!

[edit]I like your text about the IJT's role in violence, etc. (I pretty much agree with you.) However, we'll need to state it in more neutral langugage, so no one can say "That's a POV; I am taking it out."—iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 21:27, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)
Marilynne Robinson
[edit]Hi FactFinder. I've listed Marilynne Robinson at Wikipedia:Copyright problems, since it was copied straight from [1]. Cheers, dbenbenn | talk 00:25, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I've now listed Shaheen Sehbai. I recommend you stop creating pages until you know more about how Wikipedia works, and what our goals are here. I've put some welcome links at the top of this page; please go read them. dbenbenn | talk 00:56, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Why did you create Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman when you already had Mir Shakil ur Rehman? Where do you want the article? / up+land 15:00, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I just realized that perhaps you are not yet aware that you can move an article from one title to another? I now made the first article into a redirect to the second, but next time you can just use the "move" tab at the top of the page to move the article to a better title. Since both articles are entirely your own work from the same day, I don't suppose it matters much that the edit history gets split on two articles, but had you moved the article, you would have been able to see all edits in one and the same edit history. Cheers! / up+land 15:50, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Accusations and controversies
[edit]In 1998 the Pakistani government of prime minister Nawaz Sharif took action against Mir Shakil on charges of tax theft but soon it refrained from its position. Conspiracy theorists believe that Mir Shakil’s Jang Group has also a rule I the removal of the Nawaz government in the very next year, 1999. There have been a number of accusations and controversies about Mir Shakil and his Jang Group:
- Mir Shakil’s Jang Group is accused by journalists and many other groups of being "the mouthpiece of the existing government" and promoter of self-censorship journalism in Pakistan. Professional journalists in the country also accuse Mir Shakil for destroying the much respected institution of the 'editorship' in the newspaper industry-- After the death of his father he is reportedly hiring incompetent and flattering people as the so called 'chairman editorial committee' not on professional and intellectual but on on political basis.
- He is the president of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), an influential body of all newspapers' owners in Pakistan. Therefore he is not only accused of denying the rights of his hundreds of thousands employees across the country but also thought to be the biggest hurdle in the implementation of the Wage Board Award of newspaper employees in the country. The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists is often demonstrating for the rights of the working journalists of the country.
- Some business groups accuse him of blackmailing—they say if Jang Group is not given advertisement, it gives news reports against those uncooperative parties.
- Tax theft and many other corruption charges are labeled against Mir and his business empire. In 1999 the then Pakistani government officials announced that Jang Group owes customs duties on previous shipments of newsprint amounting to 1.6 billion rupees (US$31.4 million). The government also accused the group tax evasion of more than 2 billion rupees (US$40 million).
- Some conservative Pakistanis believe that Mir Shakil is an ‘agent of the West’ and a promoter of Westernization.
- He has many cases in the courts of the country in family feuds on the ownership of many of the business units.
- He is believed to be the owner of many unknown inland and offshore companies and has accused of undeclared assets around the globe.
- Mir Shakil is known as a 'dictator' in his approach and thought by his family members and employees.
Low profile
[edit]Media analysts say that Mir Shakil always plays from behind the scene. He very rarely publishes his own activities as news or feature items. No one in the country can dare to publish or telecast something about him-- He is very choosy about other persons as well. He very rarely goes to the public meetings and is not a social animal rather a ‘moneymaker’ in each and every situation. His late father recognized his intelligence and therefore he succeeded him after his death in 1992. Amazingly he prefers the projection of his elder son, Mir Ibrahim Rahman known as MIR, (CEO of GEO TV), to some extent in the media. Among Mir Shakil's employees are the best people available in Pakistan. His business is spreading around the world by leaps and bounds.
Mir Shakil is trying his best to bring peace in the South Asian region, especially between Pakistan and India. During a business tour of India, he said, "India’s positive image due to its films, TV--Musharraf has opened up business opportunities, media; Indo-Pak film-makers must not demonise RAW, ISI; Yash Chopra’s brand means wholesome entertainment..." Vandalism of 'user:Truth aspirant'
[edit]The user Truth aspirant is vandelizing Wikipedia and surprisingly accuses other serious users of this moral crime like some media-guys in Pakistan.—This uncivilized user is using different names and is not giving space to the other side of the story—like the Pakistani press—thus this article has become a busness-projection propoganda compaign not a balanced encyclopedic article. This may be to ‘satisfy his personal grudges’ or make happy his employer-- My school fellows think this user may be a leacky-employe of Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman or who knows he may be furios himself of this global-free media—anyhow the user/s should keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a publication of the Jang Group but is a property of all human being—and it shows us the true face of the world. Please let us make this article a balanced one with its positive as wel as negative aspects. Remember: Wikipedians reserve the right to sue YOU!
I've added {{cleanup-tone}} to this article because it reads like a cross between a CV and a magazine article about the chap. Itjust doesn't read like an encyclopaedia article. Also some words/links need wikifying. Also I think the chronology is wrong in places - unsure about this. -- SGBailey 16:29:56, 2005-09-02 (UTC)

[edit]Truth Aspirant is just a truth aspirant but what else can a "school boy" think - he has a certain limited level to think beyond.
- (((Sorry, whilst I understand the individual words, I find the entire sentence meaningless.)))
Truth Aspirant cannot see anyone misusing Wikipedia for satisfying his personal yet malicious grumblings and we, the Wikipedians will not spare such a culprit - yes we will sue them for using Wikipedia for the malevolence.
- (((This sounds like some form of rant, I am not sure what about, but I am sure I am not interested.)))
Please keep Wikipedia free of revengefulness, not making it a tool for satisfying your personal frustrations and spleens with people of our own country - what the rest of world will think about people like you? Think broadmindedly! Pessimists harm not only others but also themselves.
- (((What a lovely paragraph. Not sure what it has to do with the fact that the style of the main article isn't encyclopaedic, but this needs framing and hanging in a gallery.)))
Wikipedia is not meant for publicising and propagating false and self created accusations. So, please don't appropriate Wikipedia to your advantage. I think people should have the right to sue those maligners who are abusing the power of Wikipedia by writing GIGO literature to defame the people of their own country.
- (((Sentence 1 - OK. Sentence 2 - OK. Sentence 3 - What?)))
If they have frustration about anything, they should choose some other ways like bloggin or discussion forums to vent it. These people have set some targets for maligning at Wikipedia and this can easily be seen by looking at their "Contributions" which are very prcisely targetted and they are maligning those targetted entries in Wikipedia to talk only ill of their targets. I repeat they are NOT contributing to Wikipedia but doing something else!
- (((If you say so. What has this to do with improving the article?)))
Had they been sincere they'd have critcised all entries of the country giving balanced opinion but they are helpless and can't attain the level of this maturity.
- (((If you say so. What has this to do with improving the article?)))
[Note: And yes.... Truth Aspirant is self-employed]
- (((The above reply to my original post does not have the flavour of a serious reply. This is sad. -- SGBailey 20:59:53, 2005-09-02 (UTC))))

[edit]SGBailey. Well said.
User:Truth Aspirant again
[edit]Dear SGBailey: First of all I appreciate your presence at Wikipedia as you seem to be the last hope to stop the worsening of this artcle and consequently Wikipedia by users like User:Wiki4u|Wiki4u and some other anonymous.
The response was not addressed to you and there was some confusion. Rather it was for those people who were abusing Wikipedia on the other hand, you are enhancing it and letting it grow in the right direction.
Wikipedia is happening every second - it's a phenomena that's going on because millions are involoved in it. However, it must be monitored to save it from biased entries and comments in its content.
I totally agree that there's a lot of margin for improvement in the said article to give it the flavour of encyclopedia article rather than going to either of the extremes. I hope that someone will come up and will change the tone of this article to be truly balanced and encyclopedic. However, what Wiki4u and some others are adding is only negative propaganda and not based on facts probably due to their personal issues with the said person. Please review their contributions and if found guilty please recommend a ban on them.
I hope that my response clears the misunderstanding that was created between you and me. My earlier response wasn't for you.
Thanks.

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello FactFinder! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 4 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 35 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Speedy deletion nomination of Amitava Kumar
[edit]A tag has been placed on Amitava Kumar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion nomination of Uzra Butt
[edit]A tag has been placed on Uzra Butt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article Tariq Rahman has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. magnius (talk) 21:29, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Gulshan Ara Syed, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.oyadoakari.jp/pop/video/q93FRoSqT5M&feature=youtube_gdata_player.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

A tag has been placed on Sulaiman Nadvi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The article Daud Kamal has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced.
